Professor in Water Engineering Resources, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Engr. J. O. Aribisala said taking enough water can cure headache and decreases the risk of cancer in the body.
He made this claim at the investiture of Engr Jimoh Akinbowale as the 2ndNational Chairman of the Water Division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, in Abuja over the weekend.
Aribisala, who also doubles as the Deputy Vice Counsellor (Academic), Ekiti State University noted that taking enough water is better than taking drugs for headache.
The don further disclosed that there are serious environmental problems caused by flood that leads to shortage of lifespan.
He claimed that before the flood in the Bible that saw Noah build an ark, people lived beyond 900 years but the after the flood, life span dropped. He however warned that the same might happen today as the land might have been plaque with different types of diseases. He divulged that 80% of diseases and sicknesses today are water-related.
Prof. Aribisala also revealed that using chemical to treat water for drinking is obsolete and suggested that people should adopt the latest technology of treating water using bi-control. “Some of the chemical we take today may be harmful to the body especially hypertensive patients,” he warned.
Similarly, he asserted that the dams in the country are pattered after water supply only not for multiple purposes. He argued that water is no longer considered locally but globally.
He noted that dams nowadays are patterned after water reservoir, power/hydro generation, irrigation farming, amongst others.
