Jonathan legacy estate to gulp $65m

The chief executive officer of Good Earth Power International, Jason Rosamond said the 30 hectares FMBN Goodluck Jonathan Legacy City to be built will cost the sum of 65 million dollars.
He made this disclosure at the groundbreaking ceremony of Goodluck Jonathan Legacy City in Abuja yesterday.
Rosamond said the 1,000 house types in apartment blocks and duplexes will be completed in 16 months from the date of commencement.

Managing director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Gimba Ya’u Kumo said the FMBN Goodluck Jonathan Legacy City will create employment for no less than 5,000 individuals in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Kumo revealed that the job will comprise of technical, skilled and unskilled labour workers. He further disclosed that the construction of the housing project is not from the resources of the National Housing Fund, NHF scheme but from a credit facility provided by Ecobank Plc.
Gimba however solicited for the FCT Administration in the area of provision of primary infrastructure like road networks, water, electricity, sewage linkage, amongst others.
The minister of Land, Housing and Urban Development, Ms Amal Pepple assured the indigenes of Jiwa that they will be engaged in the building the 1,000 houses and that they are not going to import workers from anywhere.

She claimed that President Jonathan’s administration plan is to take care of the catchment area in the execution of projects.
On his part, FCT minister, Bala Muhammed said the federal government housing policy has come on board and they are set to reduce the housing deficit.
Bala further disclosed that 1,000 hectares of land have already been given to the FMLHUD and advised them to give it to developers who are ready to develop immediate rather than give to the Federal Housing Authority, FHA.
The Emir of Jiwa, Alhaji Idris Musa earlier advocated that his people be involved in the construction of the estate so as to create jobs for them. He claimed that their youths are jobless and he doesn’t want them to become nuisance to the society by engaging in illicit acts.
The FMBN Goodluck Jonathan Legacy City comprises of world-class technologies for power, road networks, water, waste management facilities, sewage treatment plant, telecommunications, including dedicated internet, satellite TV, schools, clinics, amongst others.
