David Oyedepo |
President
and founder of the Living Faith Church, Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo has
adviced Nigerians to be grateful always to God for all He has done for them.
He
made this call during the Liberation Night, on Friday at Canaan Land, Ota, Ogun
state, the headquarters of Winners’ Chapel, as the church is popularly called
by some of its members.
Oyedepo
said, “A thankful heart is a grateful heart. If you thank God for His fingers,
He will show His hand.” He was speaking on the 36 years anniversary of the
ministry.
He
however warned that taking God for granted is to be grounded. Making reference
to Psalm 28 verse 5 says, “Because they regard not the works of the Lord, nor
the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them…”
Earlier,
Kenneth Copeland urged worshippers not to be afraid of anything especially what
the country is going through because it is the agenda of the devil. He noted
that God has not given us the spirit of fear but that of sound mind.
Reading
from Psalm 91, verse 1 to 5, said, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the
most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the
Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God: in him will I trust…”
Also
speaking during the Liberation Sunday Thanksgiving Service, Pastor Excel Ezenwa
on the topic: Why we are giving thanks to God, disclosed that refusal to give
thanks to God is an enlistment for shame and destruction. Taking his Bible
verse from 2 Thessalonians 1:1-3, verse 3 says, “We are bound to thank God
always …”
He
however urged members to give thanks and ensure that it is timely otherwise it
becomes worthless before God.

On
the other hand, assistant Pastor, Famous Ito preaching on what is unique about
thanksgiving also noted that anytime thanksgiving is offered, multiplication is
experienced by the “thanksgiver”.
He
further revealed that thanksgiving perfects the blessings of God, making
reference to Luke chapter 17 verse 11 to 19, where Jesus healed 10 lepers but
only one returned to give glory to God hence he was made whole.
Ito
concluded by saying, “What you don’t thank God for will diminish but the moment
you thank God for what He has done, He will do what He has not done.”
