Aminu Balele |
The
chairman of Katsina United, Aminu Balele said his club is not desperate to play
at the continental level.
He
stated this on Sunday after watching the final of the Federal Capital
Territory, FCT Football Association, FA Cup between FC Abuja and Federal Road
Safety Corps, FRSC FC at the Abuja Area 3 playground.
Balele
disclosed that Katsina is not ripe enough to participate at the continental
level and they don’t want a situation whereby they will participate and send
parking at the early stage.
His
words, “We are in a learning process, some bigger teams are behind. All those
that gain promotion with us are behind, we are their guidance. We are not targeting
anything. We don’t want to be participate in continent like Wikki Tourists,
Ifeanyi Ubah and Rangers where they went and were dumped out of the competition
or like Rivers United, who went and got demoted to the lower cadre of the CAF
competitions.
“We
want to participate and compete favourably with Zamalek, Al-Ahly of Egypt,
Esperance of Tunisia and other big clubs in Africa not just to go and come
back. We love to get criticism, constructive criticism not destructive ones.

“I
love Katsina United to learn, we are not rushing, we are not desperate to go
continental, we will love to have a formidable team. We welcome criticism; it
will help us to prepare our team for the future to represent Nigeria,” he
noted.
Balele
also noted that they have achieved a lot in a short period of time that the
team gain promotion including the youth team. “We know how to play the youth
game, we reach the final of the La Liga cup but unfortunately we lost to ABS
FC. We taught some people from the northern region how to play football in the
Sahara, we never know how to play on synthetic turf before.
“We
are doing well, there is no team in Nigeria that gain promotion and achieve
what we have achieved so far in a short period of time. We succeeded in gaining
promotion, we succeeded in winning the super four and we succeeded in being in
the 11th position on the log table, these achievements are not by
accident,” he concluded.
