Ahmed Fresh |
Chairman of the Niger State football
association, Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf Fresh has revealed that preparation towards the
37th edition of this year's governors' cup finals in Mokwa is under way.
Fresh said through his Special Assistant
on Media, Mr Aro Olaoluwa after meeting with the chairman of Mokwa local chiefs
in Mokwa and other football stakeholders.
“I led the delegation of Niger State
FA to Mokwa, the host local government of the yearly Governor's cup competition
where we had meetings with the Chairman of Mokwa local Government,
traditional Rulers, and other football stakeholders of the local government.
The essence of this would not
be unconnected to the final match that is slated for 30th of April, thus we
need to carry them along as regards our plans as the State FA, Fresh said.
The board member of the Nigeria Football
Federation, NFF who is also the chairman, NFF Referees Appointment Committee said,
“When planning for a football competition regardless of where and how small it
may appear. Security plays a key role.
“So that is why we also deem it fit
to meet those handling security of the area, Mokwa and I can tell you it
was a great and successful meeting we had with both the Niger FA and the Main
Organising Committee, MOC of this year's governor's cup headed by Mr Yabagi
Baba.
Fresh, who is also the vice chairman,
NFF technical development committee said, “Plans are of importance, but very
essential.”
He added that it is always good
to carry whoever is involved in football competition along as it will help
prevent problems.
Meanwhile, the final of this year’s
cup will hold on the 30th of April 2017. Bida LG awaits the winner between Mokwa
vs Suleja LG match in the second semi-final match.
