Nigeria Eyes Badminton Title



Nigeria's badminton team to the Africa Badminton Championship are confident they can emerge champions in South Africa.
The Nigeria team will be in South Africa where the championship is taking place from 16th to 23rd of April.
Nigeria with a team of six players, comprising of four (4) male and two (2) female would represent the country in the Mixed Team event as well Individual Championship.
Captain of the Nigerian Badminton team, Babalola Gideon who is the number one ranked player in the country, is confident Nigeria will come out top in the championship.
According to him, “We have trained together as a team for more than a month and we believe we are prepared to take up the trophy.”
The players that will represent Nigeria are; Habeeb Bello, Clement Korobapo, Salaudeen Abdulfatai, Momoh Zenab, Gideon Babalola and Dorcas Adesokan. Adesokan is already in South Africa, on a training scholarship by the Badminton Confederation of Africa, BCA in preparation for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The Nigerian team will depart the country on Saturday 15th April for the championship, and will be joined by Dorcas Adesokan in South Africa.
