ABNC: We would go beyond 3rd position in subsequent event - Babalola

Nigerian team

The captain of Nigeria Badminton team, Gideon Babalola believes that the country's Badminton would put up a more credible performance in subsequent events after they came 3rd at just the concluded African Badminton Championship held in South Africa.
According to him, “I want to first of all give glory to Almighty if not we wouldn’t have participated in this year's event because we went through lots of things en route the championship.
“More so, I believed we have learnt a lot and I can assure you all that subsequently we would make the country proud more as we hope to take part in more events of Badminton,” babalola submitted.

Also speaking at the final day of this year's event, bronze medalist in female single's event, Dorcas Adesokan said, “Let me attributes our not too impressive performance to lack of players as we got tired when the event became intense.”
It would be recalled that Nigeria Badminton came third in the team's event while Dorcas Adesokan won bronze medal at her single's event, Zinab Momoh and Dorcas Adesokan both clinched bronze at the doubles event.
However this year's Africa Badminton Nations Cup  log shows Egypt booking the first position, host country South Africa who were paired in the same group with Nigeria came second while Nigeria finished third on the log.
