If the feeler reaching our sports
desk is anything to go by, then the Lagos and Abuja branch of the Sports
Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN will be meeting in an undisclosed venue in
Abuja soon.
We gathered that the reason for the
meeting might not be unconnected to the highhandedness of the National SWAN
executives which they claim is not doing the association any good.
Our correspondent also heard that
some top officers of the two bodies will also look into the issue of identity
card which many members are not interested in. part of the agenda is also to
look into the activities of the Football Writers Association, FWA, which is
posing serious threat.
Recall that so many organisations are springing
up almost on daily basis because of the disagreements of some SWAN chapters
with that of the national. Notably amongst them are Guilds of Sports Editors,
Football Writers Association, FWA, League Writers Association, Blog Writers,
etc.
