Amaju abandons Falcons, Dream Team for Arsenal

...Why Nigerian league may not improve?
It is no longer news that the president of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick abandoned the female and male Dream Team qualifying matches for FA Community Shield involving his darling team, Arsenal and Chelsea.
However, Nigerians who spoke with our correspondent are worried that the Amaju, who is supposed to be championing the Nigerian leagues let alone the national teams was reported to be in London cheering his team, Arsenal.
Amaju Pinnick
Incidentally, Amaju has never deemed it fit to watch any other teams in the Nigerian league except the matches involving his team, Warri Wolves.
A reliable source in the NFF secretariat disclosed that Amaju has bought almost all the tickets involving Arsenal matches especially the one with the top five teams.
According to our source, “Amaju is not thinking of how to package the Nigerian league like its English counterpart. He visits London every now and then to watch Arsenal matches. If you go to his house, it is branded in Arsenal logo and souvenirs. It is a shame for such person to be NFF president, I think it is youthful exuberance that is worrying him. Even if he was a fan of Arsenal, he shouldnt be doing that in the public or do it at the expense of the country’s teams or leagues.”
Daniel Odah, one of the analysts who spoke to our correspondent said Amaju needs to be examined because it is not normal. “I don’t think the EPL chairman or any other Football Federation president will do such a thing. Our problem is that we dont value ourselves that is why we have lost our respect.

“Tell me, how will our league grow when we have the President, Amaju as fan of Arsenal, the secretary-general as another fan of Arsenal and the League Management Company chairman, as a fan of Manchester United, and tomorrow they want fans to come and watch the Nigerian league?”
Obinna Nwachukwu said, “Please let them know that the EPL was like our league, it took the efforts of some serious people to bring it to limelight. Just imagine if the chairman and others were die-hard fans of Barcelona or Real Madrid, would EPL be what it is today? It is a shame!”
If the comments of the analysts are anything to go by, then there is no hope for the Nigerian leagues, because those in the helms of affairs are fans of other leagues hence nothing should be expected from them.
If Kano Pillars and Enyimba, our own el-cassico are playing and we dont have our football leaders around because they are watching Arsenal versus Manchester United, then who then do they expect to watch the match?
