Gana, NSCDC Boss |
The
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Commandant General Abdullahi Gana
Muhammadu has urged personnel to shun rumours making the round that certain sum
of money was found in his private account.
The
Corps Chief Executive stressed that since his assumption of office in July 2015
till date, the budgetary allocation released to the Corps is N7 billion but
rumour mongers are concocting stories that N6billion was found in his account
which is fallacious and highly unimaginable.
He
stated further that, the mischief makers posited that the alleged money was
meant for staff that were promoted two years ago. “'This is not possible
because government in this era cannot allow such huge amount of money to be
paid into a private account when it is meant for an agency.”
However,
the Corps helmsman said “In this dispensation where payment is done centrally
through the CBN e-payment process, how
can one person move such an amount of money to a private account without being
conscious of the fact that the bubble will burst.''
Gana
upon resumption of office in 2015, put in place mechanism to guarantee welfare
of the personnel by setting up a public complaint desk, strengthening the
Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit, as well as the Anti-fraud units for the
purpose of transparency and for personnel to channel their grievances, make
inquiry and have their complain treated.
The
Commandant General, upon receiving complaints about the stoppage of personnel
shift allowances, which was always done before his assumption of office,
quickly set machineries in motion to restore the payment of the shift allowance
and arrears to the delight of all personnel.
Similarly,
on the issue of promotion carried out two years ago before his appointment, he
said adequate provisions have been made to take care of such challenge in the
2017 budget.
He
however urged personnel to remain committed to their professional calling and
dismiss the rumours as a smear campaign and attempt by character assassins to
rubbish the leadership of the Corps for their selfish ambition but that will
not deter him from transforming the Corps better than the way he met it.
''Although,
no matter how hard you try, people will still try to find fault and speak ills
about you, nevertheless, I remain relentlessly committed to taking the Corps to
an enviable height, and therefore, admonished personnel to prevent any crack on
the wall for the lizard to penetrate''.
In
a similar vein, Gana charged the Corps personnel to ensure effective synergy and
collaboration with other security agencies without rancour.
Gana
charged them to live above board in tackling the current security challenges
confronting the Nation most especially the issue of incessant kidnapping along
the Abuja-Kaduna axis.
