Enugu Rangers whitewash El-Kanemi

The match played by Enugu Rangers Football Club against El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri could be described as football made in heaven as the Enugu boys turned their opponent to training materials.
Enugu Rangers against Heartland FC of Owerri
The Flying Antelopes as Rangers is widely called played fanciful football to the admiration of the fans. The Abuja fans who loved to see beautiful football applauded every move made by Rangers in the quarter-final of the Federation Cup played at the Goal Project of the Abuja National Stadium.
Meanwhile, unlike what was noticed during the Federation Cup involving Ifeanyi Ubah FC and FC Taraba, that witnessed mammoth crowd, it was the opposite.
It would be recalled that during the aforementioned match, fans trooped into the Area 3 Playground including the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF officials who we learnt abandoned their work in the office to watch Ifeanyi Ubah FC’s match.
The reason for such action is yet to be known but reliable source told our correspondent that almost the fans that came to watch the match including the match officials smiled home that day but whether the NFF officials also smiled is what we cannot attest to but they were absent at the Rangers versus El-Kanemi match.
Meanwhile, Rangers defeated El-Kanemi by 3-0. In the matches played at other centres revealed that Lobi Stars of Makurdi defeated another promising side, BJ Foundation by 2-1 in Lokoja.
Niger Tornadoes Feeders narrowly crashed out. Tornadoes Feeders who booted out Dolphins FC on penalties in the Round of 16, were bundled out by Akwa United on penalties, after a battling 2-2 draw at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi, they crashed out on 3-4.
In Ilorin, big spenders, FC IfeanyiUbah also crashed out to Nasarawa United at the Kwara Sports Complex, Ilorin. Nasarawa won by 1-0. The new coach of FC IfeanyiUbah, who incidentally is former assistant coach of the Super Eagles could do nothing to save the team as he sat at the stand.
In the women’s event, champions Rivers Angels were eliminated by Confluence Queens in an interesting contest.
The Kogi Queens edged the game 2-1, and will now tackle Bayelsa Queens, 2-0 winners over Edo Queens in the semi finals.
Also through to the semi finals are Nasarawa Amazons, who whipped Osun Babes 3-1, and Sunshine Queens, who defeated FC Robo 2-0 in Oleh.
